Flower - A Bird With Passion

By- Sharon Supriya

Once upon time there lived a man in a village with a pet bird called 'Flower'. A unique in its kind, even its name. The villagers wondered why the bird was called Flower by its master, until they noticed its unique habit.

Flower daily flew to the unexplored land in the woods and bought her master the world's most beautiful flower. It's sweet fragrance lit up the village with happy smiles. The master was very proud of her and loved her more than any other pet birds he owned. He understood the pet's every need and respected her passion, to explore the unexplored world. Although it was just a pet, he gave her freedom to do what it wants to do and more than anything else trusted her, that even, if it leaves the masters abode everyday it will surely return to nestle in the master's nest.

Everything seemed like a fairy world to both of them, until one day master decided to cut Flower's wings. One morning, he tiptoed to the window where Flower sang a new song everyday. This day was no different, but just had a tragic end to the story of 'go live your passion'. When flower was mesmerized by the beauty of dawn and sang a new song of adventure, Master grabbed her from back, without a single word, cut both her wings and locked her in a cage.

Flower cried with pain, wriggled on the tinned floor helplessly and looked at her master in surprise. She wondered why her kind master became a savage beast. The one who understood her deepest desire and fear without a gesture, ended her life's only passion without an explanation. Her passion to sway into the sky, kiss the clister clear clouds and drop into the unexplored woods like a rain drop, and fly back to the masters abode with the land's beautiful flower and nestle in his warm hands every night - was all ended in a fraction of second.

Days passed, the master never walked upto the Flower's cage to even have a glimpse. Flower although upset, was more angry on such heinous act. She stopped singing her melodious songs in the morning which brightened the day of the village. It sulked in its cage and just did what was asked to do by her other caretaker now. Flower was no more a bird of passion, but a bird of must to be fulfilled duties. Just another prison-ed slave.

Till date, nobody knows why the Master killed his favourite bird's only passion. Some say because he cared for her, some say he feared she would get even more hurt, if she was in the wild woods all alone, still other say he feared that she would one day betray him and never come back. The real reason is still unkown. But the cost is paid. The Flower's passion is caged and the freedom is lost forever.

Everyday, knowingly or unknowingly – many such Flower's are forced to do what other's want them to do. Everyday one passionate Flower is forced to let go her passion in a brutal way. The passion that is truly the essence of one's own living.
